LGB Stainz
Made from 1968 to 1990, 0-4-0 tank locomotive. "Stainz 2" modeled from the 1892 vintage locomotive of the Steiermarkischen Landesbahnen (StLB). Has "Baldwin" type non smoking stack. #2 on cab. In many respects, it is very similar to the 2010 and 2040 steam locomotives. This locomotive is iconic as it is used for the LGB logo. Many have appeared in starter sets, and they are considered a staple of many LGB collections. Therefore, this item has outsold any other model. Replaced by the 2020D in 1991. Also sold with LGB starter sets #20301.
Length: 250 mm.
B Series: 1968-1969. Same as A, but with gold finished cab, numbers only and operating headlights. Sold for $53.00 USD (98 Deutschmarks) in 1969.
C Series: 1969. Same as B, but with silver on cab window frames, framed "2" and "LGB."
D Series: 1970-71. Same as B, but with gold cab number "2" and "LGB."
E series: 1971-73. Same as D, but with 2200 motor block, 2210 pickup shoes, large headlight and square roof vent.
F series: 1973-76. Same as E, but with gold window frames, no data markings on chassis.
G series: 1977-82. Same as F, but with medium green cab.
H series: 1983. Same as G, but with white "Letzte HV.26.6.76" chassis markings. Also sold with some 20501, 20514, and 20532 starter sets.
I series: 1983-86. Same as H, but with white "Letzte HV.26.6.79" chassis markings. Also sold with some 20514, 20516, & 20532 starter sets.
J series: 1984. Dark green cab with gold "2", "2020" chassis ID and nonsmoking "Baldwin" stack. Likely to have "Letzte HV.22.6.64" chassis markings. Sold only with some 20301MF (Marshall Fields) sets. Set loco is the same as J, but different chassis ID markings.
K series: 1985. Same as J, but with factory installed 2010/3 straight smoking stack. Essentially the same as the 2010D J series, except for the chassis ID markings. Sold with some 20301MF (Marshall Fields) sets, 20501 and 20522 sets.
L series: 1986-1990. Same as J, but sold separately. Also sold with 20534 starter set.
