LGB 2018D DSP&PRR Mogul & Tender
LGB DSP & PRR Mogul Locomotive and Tender
Made from 1985 to 1988. 2-6-0 Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad Mogul locomotive and tender similar to those found in almost all narrow gauge railways in America and used especially for navigating tight curves through narrow canyons and river beds. Green cab and tender with red boiler and black piping; black smoking balloon smokestack, black boiler front with silver door and gold "18" on the front number plate. Although production was pushed back to 1985, a few prototypes were displayed in the U.S. in late 1984. The DSP&PRR model was lettered D&RGW in the 1984-85 catalog and the cab and tender were lighter green. Production models have "DSP&PRR" lettering. A decal is included to alter the tender road name to D&RGW as well as several other engine numbers. When it was discovered that the weight inside the boiler was not entirely secure, a boiler-weight screw was included through the inside of the cab. Tender is unpowered but essential to the operations of the locomotive. Special wire loom connects tender with locomotive. Because of this, neither the locomotive nor the tender is sold separately.
Production: >10,000
Many early models had trouble navigating curves and a silent factory recall was ordered to replace the entire chassis. This model was replaced by the 2028D in 1988.
Length: 665 mm.
A series: 1985. gold "DSP&PRR" on sides of tender; only one driver wheel with traction tire, one screw on outside front of cab.
