LGB Trains 3019 Green Postal Wagon

LGB Trains 3019 Green Postal Wagon

Made from 1971-74.  Four wheel postal wagon/brake van.  Cataloged as 3019 until 1976, however, this body mold was discontinued in by 1974.  Embossed 3019 ID with nonpainted green SW4(A) body, similar to the 4029-4033 freight cars, except for larger side windows and nonfunctioning end door.  Small embossed LGB logo on upper side wall near platform.  Embossed letter drop slot on lower opposite end with curled bugle raised plaque.  Functioning sliding side doors.  Medium arched MA1 roof and SW1 railings with filigree roof supports.  No markings.  Interior molded plate on car floor to hold 4.5 volt battery (more commonly found in Europe) for coach lighting prior to the introduction of lighting sockets.

Length: 300 mm

B series: 1971-74.  Same as A, but unpainted light green.

Post 1974 models:
1975: four wheel postal wagon/brake van, not cataloged until 1977.  New SW4(B) body mold version cataloged as 3019N (New) from 1977 to 1979, when the catalog number reverted back to 3019.  Embossed 3019 ID until about 1985.  Body is similar to the earlier versions of the 3019, except rear side windows moved forward, abutting sliding side doors.  False side door added next to this window on each side.  Raised plaques appear higher with decal letter drop on side replacing embossed letter drop drop and curled bugle on earlier 3019.  KPEV eagle decal on raised plaque above white letter drop.  White heat stamped "LGB" and "3019N" on sliding door until 1979, when N suffix was dropped. Later versions have "LGB" decal, rather than heat stamped "LGB".  All yellow frames except end door are painted yellow.  "Post" in yellow on black plaque above false side door.  3031 tailights on nonplatform end.  Additional markings appear on later versions.  Beginning in 1979, metal 3019/1 wheels added and the car became fully functioning current collector with lighting sockets for coach lighting.  Probably the first LGB item to use contact strips so that the roof could be removed without removing the lighting kit.  Medium arched MA2 roof.  Filigree roof supports.  See 30819 for brown Primus version.  See 1985 for Lehmann Jubilee version.  See 31190 for brown DR version.

Length: 300 mm

D series: 1977.  Same as C, but with 3019/1 metal wheels and 3019/3 current brushes.

E series: 1978.  Same as D, but with lighter green body.  "LGB" and "3019N" markings on sliding doors are smaller and covering less than the height of one slat.
